浅析迪士尼真人电影Mulan英文台词体现的文化挪用
【摘要】迪士尼公司将动画片花木兰改编成为真人电影Mulan。本片从策划、选角、宣传到上映都备受国内外的关注。但电影也暴露出不少西方视角对中国文化的偏见，显现出文化挪用的端倪。本文选取电影的部分英文台词，分析文化挪用在片中的具体体现，向中国文化的热爱者和创作者提供必要参考。

电影是文化交流的常见形式。迪士尼公司打造的公主电影一直以来都备受全球观众的青睐。2020年，迪士尼将动画片《花木兰》改编成为真人电影Mulan，这也是迪士尼推出的第一位中国公主，但同时影片也饱受争议。在花木兰的家乡中国，影片却遭到冷遇，与上映前的热烈反响对比鲜明。迪士尼惯用的商业叙事模式似乎遭遇了审美疲劳。其更深层次的原因，还是在于故事讲述者站在西方文化的视角，对于中国文化错误的解读和挪用。
一、文化挪用的简介
James O·Youny将文化挪用定义为“一种文化的成员(称为外来者)将另一种文化的成员(称为当地人)产生的文化作品占有或者使用的行为”。其中，挪用可大体分为实体挪用(object appropriation)和非实体的挪用。实体挪用主要指艺术品的所有权从原生文化成员转移到其他文化成员的手中。本文探讨的将“花木兰”这一艺术形象在西方文化中的再现，属于非实体挪用。非实体挪用又可以分为内容挪用(content appropriation)和题材挪用(subject appropriation)。其中，题材挪用较为特殊，它并未真正拿走其他文化，而是由一种文化的成员以另一种文化“发声”，在艺术作品中再现其他文化成员的生活经历。
将非实体的文化成果在另一种文化中再现，对其他文化环境中的艺术家的作品观点再利用，则被称为内容挪用。风格挪用(style appropriation)和母题挪用(motif appropriation)都是内容挪用的子类型。风格挪用是借用其他文化中的风格要素，而母题挪用是艺术家受到某种文化影响，从而创作出不同于该文化风格的作品。因此，两者的主要的区别在于是否在原生文化的基础上衍生、发展出新的内容。
文化挪用既要重视动机，也要关注过程与结果。从动机和结果来看，该电影不如预期。迪士尼改编真人电影的动机无疑是出于商业目的。1998年动画电影Mulan获得奥斯卡和金球奖等殊荣的同时，也创造了高票房的盛况，与此次真人电影的境遇大相径庭。就过程而言，真人电影Mulan采用的叙事方式完全体现的是神秘东方的异国情调包装下的西方价值观，也是迪士尼站在现代西方视角对中国传统文化的二次消费，从电影的英文台词可见一斑。
二、Mulan英文台词中的文化挪用
语言是文化的载体。通过Mulan英文版台词可以看出外国人对于我国文化的解读。本片改编自我国古代民间故事木兰从军，台词中出现了大量有关传统文化的内容，中国观众本应倍感親切。但台词中到处充斥着对中国文化符号的误读与杂糅，对文化内涵的偷换。这样反而拉开了与观众的距离。
1.文化符号的误读。
台词1，Hua Zhou： Chi is for warriors not daughters.
译文，花周：这种元气，那些士兵才需要，女孩子不需要。
台词2，Soldier： Bori Khan fights alongside a woman.Her chi is beyond imagining.
Chancellor： There is no place for witches in this kingdom. It is forbidden to use the power of chi in destructive ways.
The Emperor： We're not afraid of dark magic.
译文，小兵：步利可汗身边有一名巫女，此人的巫术非常厉害。
宰相：本朝绝无巫女的容身之地，也决不允许修炼邪魔巫术，行破坏之事。
皇帝：邪魔巫术不足以为惧。
本片将花木兰设定为是拥有“气”的女子。台词1出现在花周与花木兰的对话中，花周指出“气”是勇士而非女子该拥有的力量。片中另一位拥有“气”的女子，则是协助柔然的巫女。根据台词2中皇帝与宰相和小兵的对话，“气”被视为巫女才会操纵的具有破坏性的黑暗魔法。在迪士尼的眼中，“气”被诠释为了“士兵才能拥有的力量”“巫女巫术的来源”，是具有破坏性的邪恶力量。这与中华文化中“气”的概念大相径庭。
王充的《论衡》一书中记载到“天地气合，万物自生。”我国古代哲学认为宇宙间一切有形之物都来源于无形之气。随后，“气”的概念逐渐发展到风水和中医等方面，因此气的文化意象十分丰富。中医气学理论认为气既是物质，又是功能，贯穿于生命的始终。人体的“气”通过统摄、主持和升降出入有序地运行，使机体能达到运动和平衡的统一 。因此，“气”是中国古代对于人体机能和谐统一的一种概括性描述，并非少数人才具备的神力。迪士尼对“气”的设定一方面是为了贴近“迪士尼公主”的形象——迪士尼的公主总是受到上天的眷顾，天生具有非凡的魔法力量，这符合受众们的美好愿望。另一方面，这种误读只是一味满足了外国观众对于神秘东方的猎奇心理，对于中华文化扭曲的再现，折射出的是西方世界对于中国文化的偏见，可以看出迪士尼对于中国文化缺乏必要的尊重。
2.文化符号的杂糅。
台词3，Hua Zhou：Do you know why the phoenix sits at the entrance of our shrine? She is the emissary of our ancestors.Some says the phoenix is consumed by flame and emerges again.
译文，花周：你知道为什么我们的祠堂门口有只凤凰吗?凤凰是我们花家的吉祥瑞兽。传说凤凰就算被大火烧成灰烬也能获得新生。
台词3是花周在祠堂前向女儿讲述凤凰的来历。自古以来，龙与凤凰都是华夏民族的文化图腾。先秦的《山海经》、汉代的《礼记·礼运》、晋代《尔雅·释鸟》等文献对凤凰均有记载。随着历史的演进，华夏文明中凤凰的形象逐渐清晰：凤凰乃上古灵兽，祥瑞之鸟，百鸟之王，兼具鸡、蛇、燕子、龟和鱼等外形特征;凤为雄性，凰为雌性，凤凰是统称;秦汉以后，凤凰的雄性形象被弱化，龙成为帝皇的象征，皇后妃嫔成为凤的化身，凤凰也逐渐代表了皇权。因此，在中国传统文化中，凤凰象征吉祥、爱情、皇权和女性，中文中也有“龙凤呈祥”“凤求凰”“凤冠霞帔”和“龙章凤姿”等说法。
电影中的Phoenix并非中国文化中的“鳳凰”，而是西方的“不死鸟”，不死鸟能浴火重生，因此常用于比喻人们坚韧不拔的品质。中文中虽有“凤凰涅槃”的说法，但该词源于郭沫若20世纪20年代发表的同名诗作，是近现代的新词。迪士尼正是利用了花木兰男扮女装代父从军最后恢复女儿身的故事与凤凰和不死鸟形象的偶合，将两者杂糅成花家的守护神。此举虽然能引起中西方观众的文化共鸣，但将属于不同文化的符号张冠李戴，只会混淆视听，更会削弱中华民族的文化特性。
3.文化内涵的偷换。
台词4，Commander Tung：I know your father. I see shadow of his sword in you.Perhaps this shadow falls heavy on your shoulders. You can't allow your father's legacy to hold you back， you need to cultivate your gift.
译文，董将军：我认识你的父亲。我在你的身上就像看到了他的锋芒，只是这锋芒似乎让你自惭形秽。别藏在父亲的影子下退缩不前，你要释放自己的才能。
台词5，Hua Mulan： Listen to me， all of you.We will live. I guarantee it. Because I will protect you.
译文，花木兰：各位兄弟，我想说，会活下去的。我们一定可以的，因为我会保护你们。
台词6，The girl became a soldier， the soldier became a leader， a leader became a legend.
译文，女孩当了小兵，小兵成长为将军，将军成就了传奇。
面对战友一再地试探，花木兰终于在比武中显示出自己的真实本领。台词4为将军目睹这一切后与她的对话，可见花木兰最初一直记得父亲的训诫，恪守本分，隐藏自我。这也反映出了花木兰的自我认知与父亲的期望之间的矛盾。台词5为花木兰目睹了先头部队战亡的惨状后与战友的对白。花木兰表露出了在战场上保护战友，奋勇杀敌的决心。故事最后，花木兰识破柔然的调虎离山之计，在危险关头救下皇帝，因此最终免去女扮男装的责罚，并被钦点为护卫军大统领。台词6为电影最后的旁白，为木兰从军的故事作出了注解。
在中国版的花木兰中，国家遭遇外敌袭击，民不聊生。一纸征兵令要求每家每户出一名男丁上战场。花家父亲年迈虚弱，身负残疾，弟弟年幼，家中没有身强力壮的男丁。花木兰不忍心父亲出走塞外，便替父亲承担兵役，保家卫国。整个故事的核心是歌颂花木兰尽孝报恩，尽忠报国的精神。木兰的故事流传千百年，时至今日仍然被国人铭记于心，它体现了家国情怀——为了“小家”和“大家”，可以将个人生死置之度外，这也是中华民族最为看重的个人品质。
值得注意的是，真人版Mulan相较于动画版的结局做了调整。动画版的花木兰最后拒绝了皇帝赐予的宰相之位，返回故乡。真人版的花木兰最后接受了护卫军大统领的职位，成就了个人功业，这样的改动更有利于宣扬西方个人主义的主流价值观。迪士尼将家庭设定为阻碍花木兰个人发展的“枷锁”，战争是实现花木兰自我价值的途径。战场上求胜不是为了国家的安定，而是为了体现个人能力高于他人。最终成就个人传奇的结局也就能自圆其说了。迪士尼版的花木兰把原本的文化内涵偷换成美国式的个人英雄主义，把个人价值凌驾于一切之上，彻底抛弃了中国文化颂扬的集体主义。真人版电影并不旨在弘扬中国文化，而是“中为洋用”的又一次文化输出。
台词7，Hua Zhou：I am the father.It is my place to bring honor to our family on the battlefield.You are my daughter， learn your place.
译文，花周：我是你父亲，我应当上战场拼功名，为家族带来荣耀。你是我的女儿，守好你的本分。
台词8，Witch： Who are you?
Hua Mulan： I am Hua Jun，soldier in the emperor's Imperial Army.
Witch： Liar. Your deceit weakens you.
译文，巫女：你是谁?
花木兰：我是花军，听从皇上号令的一名骑兵。
巫女：骗子，谎言让你不堪一击。
台词9，Commander Tung： Only a foolish man listens to someone whose very existence is a lie.
Chen Honghui： You would believe Hua Jun， why do you not believe Hua Mulan? She risked everything by revealing her true identity. She's braver than any man here.
译文，董将军：你女扮男装骗过了全营的兄弟，现在说这些，叫我如何信你?
陈洪辉：你愿意相信花军，为何不肯相信花木兰?她敢于冒险坦白自己的真实身份，她比我们男人还要勇敢。
花父接到征兵令后，花木兰反对他应征。台词7为花父对花木兰的训斥，要求女儿恪守本分：男人应上战场拼功名，女人应嫁个好人家，为家族带来荣耀。台词8为花木兰在战场上与巫女的对白。巫女发现了伪装成男人的花木兰，并讽刺她不敢面对女性身份，无法展露出自己真实的实力。而花木兰向战友坦白身份后，从“花军”变为“花木兰”的她却遭遇了将军的斥责。台词9是战友为花木兰的辩白，从侧面指出将军对于女性的偏见。
《木蘭辞》中写到“同行十二年，不知木兰是女郎”，这是诗中从第三视角对于花木兰男扮女装的唯一评论。中国版的花木兰在当时封建社会的历史背景下，女扮男装虽然有违常规，但出于孝心和忠心，服从了传统价值观，所以免受责罚。可以看出，原版花木兰的故事并没有刻意制造性别矛盾。而迪士尼把花氏父女的矛盾置于故事的突出位置，将花木兰尽孝尽忠的初衷替换为反抗父亲对于自己女子身份的传统规训。替父从军并不是自我牺牲，而是自我证明，体现了对父权的反抗。同时，迪士尼强化了花木兰的女性身份和男性形象之间的性别冲突，着重描述“女扮男装”背后的内心挣扎，以及周围人对“花军”和“花木兰”截然不同的态度。这体现出了女权与男权的对抗，正好符合了当下倡导男女平等、呼唤女性意识觉醒的大背景，也顺应了美国式“政治正确”的价值观——关注边缘和弱势群体。
无论是出于自我牺牲还是自我证明，中、美两版花木兰都从客观上都反映了女子也能上战场，杀敌寇，保边疆的反性别歧视之成规，这一点值得肯定。但迪士尼凸显女性主义的艺术手段过于片面化、脸谱化。电影为花木兰设定了一个“不被父亲肯定、不接受传统女性价值观、不守常规、热爱冒险”的女性形象，将花木兰置于男性的对立面，置于传统女性的对立面。似乎只有通过二元对立才能实现女性地位的崛起，这是典型的西方女性主义的话语方式。反观中国文化中谈及女性意识的作品，例如豫剧《花木兰·谁说女子不如男》，歌词中唱到“谁说女子享清 闲……不分昼夜辛勤把活干，这将士们才能有着吃和穿”，既认可了传统女性的贡献，同时“有许多女英雄……为国杀敌是代代出英贤”也鼓励了女性可以有不同的选择。真正的性别平等不是东风压倒西风，而是尊重多样性。由此可见，迪士尼用美式政治正确的话语模式来宣扬普世价值，将自以为是的价值观投射到原生文化上，体现了对中国文化的偏见与傲慢。
三、结语
文化挪用虽然能从某些方面促进文化间的相互交流，但对原文化失实的再现往往弊大于利。迪士尼对中国文化符号和文化内涵的挪用，显示出西方主流文化对于其他文化缺乏应有的尊重，不仅不利于中国文化的传播，还会加深外国观众的固有成见。因此，我们应保持清醒的头脑，注意辨别对于本国文化扭曲、篡改的现象;同时我国的创作者们也应认识到自身的责任，潜心研究，取长补短，将传播中国文化的主动权掌握在自己的手中。

【摘 要】随着国家对外开放及全球经济一体化发展需要，作为国际广泛使用的交际语言--英语成为国人必修的课程之一。而英文电影作为现在的流行趋势，它成为了人类的生存需要。因此，英文电影极其重要。本文我从英文电影在我国的发展趋势现状环境入手，找到从英文电影中最正确的学习方法，在听力、口语、语音面貌等各方面有更强的认识，尽量让这个过程变得有趣些，并始终保持对英语的兴趣和信心。英文电影这个行业现状前景广阔。

一、诸论
电影是中西方文化交际的媒介，而跨文化交际能否顺利进行受多重因素制约。本文通过对言语交际行为中合作原则的回顾，分析了英文电影中的英文原版经典台词。为促进学生学习英语兴趣，我们选取该题。
近年来， 随着科学技术的迅速发展， 多媒体辅助教学已被许多大学英语教师应用于英语教学当中。英文电影是多媒体辅助教学里的一个重要的部分， 它的素材来源广泛， 所涉及的内容丰富多彩， 反映了欧美国的语言、文化、习俗等诸多方面。大多数大学生对英语电影并不陌生，在他们的大学学习、生活中广泛应用过。
如果能够利用英文电影进行大学英语听说教学， 不但可以让学生学到地道的语言， 增强语感， 更好掌握握所学语言的语言和文化， 而且最重要是可以让学生摆脱学习英语的枯燥、单调， 从而提高他们的英语听说能力。根据大学英语听说教学实际以及大学生英语听说水平的实际， 总体来说， 选择电影应该注意以下几方面：
(一)看该英文影片所包含的语言信息量大不大;
(二)看该影片内容是否贴近生活;
(三)看影片中人物的发音是否清晰、标准、地道;
(四)看该英文电影是否具有健康的思想内容。
二、教学方法
(一)激发学习兴趣。教育心理学认为，兴趣是最好的老师。电影是一门综合艺术，是语言的载体和文化沟通的桥梁。它集图像和声音为一体，具有艺术性、形象性和趣味性;它为学生所提供的语言学习材料生动、直观、逼真;它能将学生的注意力集中起来，通过大量的信息输入，充分调动学生的听觉和视觉潜能，引发学生想听、想说的强烈愿望;它能为学生自然主动地听说英语营造轻松愉快的氛围和环境，使得学生愿意听、说英语，喜欢听、说英语。总之，原版英文电影能充分调动学生的学习积极性，激发学生的英语听说学习兴趣。
(二)提供真实的语境。在日常生活中，大学生去接触和了解以英语为母语的人(English Native Speakers)以及他们的说话习惯和生活方式的机会很少，而电影来源于生活，它所展示的语言和交际场景就是以英语为母语的人生活中的语言和交际场景。 这给大学生创造了一个真实的英语语言学习环境。使学生有身临其境的感觉，从而更能体会在真实情境中该怎么运用英语来交流。 生动、逼真的话言和画面使大学生不出国门就能感受到原汁原味的英语。
(三)学习文化语言。展现英语国家的文化语言是文化的载体，而文化又映射着语言。语言与文化的关系息息相关，要想学好一门语言，就必须了解这门语言所根植的文化，而原版英文电影正是通过鲜活的语言、动人的故事情节为我们展示了英语国家的文化、历史、风俗习惯以及不同的社会价值观等，使得学生对英语国家的文化能够有深入的了解。
(四)欣赏英文电影。1.选择合适英文电影。选择比较经典的英文电影，如《音乐之声》(The Sound of Music)、《狮子王》(The Lion King)、《阿甘正传》(Forest Gump)等等，在让学生欣赏这些影片之前， 教师应提前准备和查找相关资料，包括与影片有关的文字和图片、电影脚本以及关于该部影片的影评等， 以帮助了解剧情，看脚本时还要标注比较难的单词和语句。2.去掉电影字幕。去掉电影中中文字幕，或者切换成英文字幕或无字幕来练习听力。一边观看，一边跟着角色说话，尽量去模仿影片人物的发音及语气，这样既锻炼了听力，又提高了口语。3.记录影片中的关键词汇或剧中人的经典台词。准备一本笔记本，以便在欣赏英文电影的过程中记下影片中出现的关键词汇或剧中人的经典台词，学生通过课上跟读、课后背诵这些词汇和经典台词，将有助于他们提高其口语水平。4.学习英文电影中所蕴含的文化。美国社会学家G.R.Tucker和 W.E.Lambet对于外语教学中只教语言不教文化也有这样的看法：“我们相信，任何这类企图都会使学生失去兴趣，使他们不仅不想学习语言符号本身，而且也不想了解使用这一符号系统的民族。相反，帮助学生在学习语言时提高对文化的敏感性，就可以利用他们发自内心的想了解其他民族的兴趣和动力……，从而提供了学习该民族语言的基础”。5.给影片配音。给英文影片配音是一项对学生很有吸引力、很有挑战性活动，同时又又能激发学生学习英语的兴趣。做这项活动要求比较高，它是在把人物对白准确地记下来，并且能模仿演员的语音语调基础上进行的。如果学生为此做了大量的准备工作。如背诵对白、反复模仿等。这样的话，通过配音练习，学生可以学到许多口语表达方式。
三、结语
综上所述：电影无论作为教学手段还是教学内容， 都具有其他教学媒体如录音机、收音机、投影等无法比拟的优越性。在大学英语教学过程中，如果选择合适的英文电影，并且让大学生欣赏这些英文电影，不仅能让学生获得视觉、听觉上极大程度的满足，扩展了学生对不同国家( 特别是英语国家) 的文化、习俗、社会概况的了解， 而且通过组织丰富多彩的课堂课后活动， 还能极大地激发了他们学习英语的兴趣，培养和提高了学生的英语听说能力和交际能力。将英文电影欣赏应用于大学英语听说教学是一种行之有效的方法， 应该进行不断的探索，使其更好地为提高大学生英语听说能力服务。 诚然，在这个教学过程中也存在着一些问题，例如：目前大学英语电影听说教学的教材紧缺;学校需要投入大量的资金建设多媒体教室; 学校还需要投入大量的人力、物力定期进行设备检查;教师需要观看大量电影再从中进行精挑细选， 工作量大大增加， 面临更大的挑战等。这些问题都有待于进一步的深入研究。
