巧用英文歌提升山区县高中生英语口语能力

【摘要】随着经济和社会的发展，英语的社交性、工具性作用更加突出，培养学生的英语口语能力就显得尤为重要。但是，受应试教育思想的影响，教师对学生英语口语能力的培养不够重视。山区县高中生由于各种原因，英语口语能力普遍不高。因此，加强对山区县高中生的英语口语能力的培养已迫在眉睫。本文以英语学科核心素养为导向，主张巧用英文歌，从语音、语块、英语思维和文化内涵四个维度来提升山区县高中生英语口语能力。

一、山区县高中生英语口语能力培养现状及瓶颈

受历史、经济、政治、文化等因素影响， 在世界诸多语言中，英语的优势不言而喻。随着经济全球化的发展，英语作为国际语言，其重要性日益凸显，我国对英语教育也越来越重视，使英语教育不断得到发展，但学生的英语口语能力并未得到较好的发展，尤其是山区县的高中生。山区县高中生的英语口语能力相对较弱，大部分学生开口说出来的是“中国式英语”，发音不标准。他们的主要问题是语音基础知识薄弱，不能准确地认读大部分音标，不具备良好的单词拼读能力。80%左右的学生对语调、意群、连读等缺乏正确的认知，读句子时无法准确理解句子要表达的语义，更不用说用英语很好地表达自己的思想了。此外，由于对语法知识掌握不扎实，他们说英语时经常犯语法错误，搞不清句子结构，无法进行流利且自然的表达[1]。除学生自身英语口语知识欠缺导致英语口语能力不佳外，还有一些因素也制约了他们的英语口语能力的提高。具体原因如下。

(一)应试教育思想的制约

由于兴趣的缺失和高考的压力，山区县很多高中生学习英语是为了应付考试，认为进行英语口语训练是在浪费时间。为了追赶教学进度，对于英语教学中的听、说、读、写四个方面，部分教师认为英语口语能力培养的弹性最大。因此，在教学中，教师大量压缩口语教学的时间，甚至不教学口语，这在一定程度上给学生错误的导向，让学生误认为英语口语不重要。

(二)山区县高中生心理因素的制约

山区县很多学生不敢开口说英语，想说又害怕说错，这种矛盾、恐惧心理导致他们对英语口语学习产生一种焦虑的情绪，最终导致他们对英语口语学习失去了兴趣。

(三)山区县学校教育硬件设施和软件设施的制约

目前，山区中学和城市中学在教学条件、师资力量、生源基础等各方面有很大的差距，所以山区学生相比城市学生缺少良好的学习条件，尤其是英语口语学习环境，这在很大程度上制约了山区县高中生英语口语能力的提高。

針对以上制约因素，笔者提出以英文歌为载体，从四个维度提高山区县高中生英语口语能力的策略。

二、巧用英文歌提升山区县高中生英语口语能力

英语口语能力的培养需要学生有一种积极和执着的学习热情。如何激发山区县高中生学习英语口语的兴趣和动力，是教师要重点思考的一个问题。音乐是没有国界的语言，且大部分学生喜欢听歌，因此，教师可以以英文歌曲为载体来激发高中生英语口语学习的热情。在具体教学中，教师可以带领学生赏析英文歌曲，引导学生充分感知语音，记忆语块，使其学会将自己可以利用的表达方式整理在一起，形成英语思维，最后通过对歌曲主题和文化背景的讨论来培养自身的文化品格。在教学中，教师只要落实这四个维度，就基本完成了口语训练从语言的输入到输出的过程，从而达到提高山区县高中生口语能力的目的。那么，英文歌曲教学如何从这四个维度来提升学生的英语口语能力呢?

(一)从语音维度提升英语口语能力

英文歌曲的演唱比较明显地展现了连读、同化、缩音、省音、意群的划分等口语技巧。因此，教师可将英文歌曲作为教学材料，把语音教学与英语歌曲赏析结合起来，通过赏析英文歌词，让学生大量接触地道、自然的发音，从简单的两三个单词连读到一个较长的语句演唱，通过有意识的训练，掌握连读、叠合和失爆等发音技巧，并且明白如何划分意群，何时该停顿，何时该重读，如何通过不同的节奏和语调表示不同的语意等。例如，在欣赏英文歌 Let It Go 时，教师可先让学生听一遍歌，从整体上感受歌词，然后把歌词中有连读、失爆、省略等现象的单词挖空，让学生边听边写，这样就培养了他们利用语音发音技巧表达的意识，最后让学生学唱这首歌，从语音上培养学生的英语口语能力。

(二)从语块维度提升英语口语能力

英语口语能力强是指英语学习者语音、语调纯正，能够流利、地道地用英语表达自己的思想。那么，如何培养学生流利地表达自己思想的能力呢?英语歌曲中的歌词大部分源于生活，学唱这些歌曲必然要记住歌词，教师可以引导学生将歌词中的地道表达形成语块记忆。语块是一种多词组的语言现象，集词法、句法、语用功能于一身，在话语交际中起着重要的作用，其对提高学生英语口语能力有重要的作用。例如，歌曲 Unchained Melody 的歌词语言很美，教师可以将hunger for your touch (熟悉的名词转动词使用)、Time can do so much(意为：时光荏苒，物换星移)、Lonely rivers flow to the open arms of the sea(采用了比喻的修辞手法)等优美的语句重点标注出来，让学生细细品味，并把其中地道的英语口语表达形成语块记忆。通过这样的语块记忆，学生的词汇积累量增多，语用能力提升，英语口语能力自然也显著提高。

(三)从英语思维维度提升英语口语能力

不了解英语和汉语语言思维的差异，也是制约山区县高中生英语口语能力提升的一个重要因素。吕叔湘教师在《中国人学英语》一书中谈道： “在教学中，教师应有意识地引导学生发现、比较英汉思维模式的差异，培养学生洞察文化差异的自觉意识，帮助学生理解、顺应这些差异，使其逐步养成用英语思维思考问题的习惯，最终达到准确、规范、恰当地用英语传递语言信息的目的。”[2]因此，在教学中，为了提高学生英语口语能力，教师也应对培养学生的英语思维予以重视。

英文歌可以帮助学生形成英语思维。汉语是顺向思维，而英语则是逆向思维， 用英语叙述和说明事物时，通常是先概括后举例，先表态后解释，先判断后叙述[3]。例如，What upset the child was his not to be allowed to visit his mother in hospital.(先表达难过再指明原因);I don't like it when people speak with their mouth full.(先表明不喜欢，再说明不喜欢什么)。英语思维的另一个特征是英语句子的拓展形式呈顺线性延伸，这恰好与汉语相反，也就是说，英语是句尾开放，句首收缩(句尾开放是指其句尾的拓展性很强，可无限延伸，而句首的拓展性很有限)，如He is the general who makes the fewest mistakes.通过赏析英文歌词，学生可以明白英语“句尾开放”这一特点，从而摆脱汉语的负迁移，形成英语思维，更自然地表达自己的想法。例如，在赏析英文歌 Yesterday Once More 时，教师可以截出句子“When I was young， I'd listen to the radio， waiting for my favorite songs.”和“But they're back again just like a long lost friend.”让学生体会英语表达模式，感受歌词的语言美。

(四)从文化内涵维度提升学生的英语口语能力

在挑选英文歌曲时，教师应选择一些能够让学生了解西方人的生活、文化和習俗，或者蕴含时代文化的歌曲，而且最好能结合教材进行选题。教师把这样的英文歌曲适当地融入英语教学中，通过歌曲的真实语境及其蕴含的创作背景，可以帮助学生了解外国文化。歌词赏析后，教师可以采用主题讨论的方式对学生开展口语输出训练，同时也为学生的英语口语学习提供良好的语言环境，这是提高学生英语口语能力的有效途径，也能培养学生的文化意识[4]。山区县的学生虽然不敢开口说英语，但是思维敏锐，具有较强的创新意识和创造力，对新事物充满好奇心，并且能够积极参与、敢于尝试，因此，这一教学活动深受学生青睐。教师应根据学生的这一心理特点，在课堂活动中坚持创新性原则，通过精心设计辩论活动，激发学生的学习热情，使学生积极思考、敢于用英语表达自己的想法。例如，在赏析 Take Me Home，Country Road 歌词后，教师告诉学生，这首歌中的乡村路非同寻常，它是乡村外边世界的游子们回家乡的路，歌词虽然朴实却表达了浓郁的思乡之情和对大自然的热爱。接着，教师结合歌曲创作者的生平经历，抛出一个讨论主题 What is brave? 从而让学生进行口语输出训练，培养学生勇敢乐观的品质。

经过一年时间的英文歌教学，笔者所教的山区县高中生的英语口语能力得到了整体提高，大部分学生的发音问题，得到了改善，通过语块记忆也变得有话可说，而且培养了英语思维。学生在赏析英文歌中学习英语，更易于取得成就感，从而可以更大胆、更主动地投入语言实践活动中，加强口语训练。最后，文化品格的培养，一直是提高学生口语学习兴趣的重要途径，学生乐于学习的不仅仅是口语，更希望对外国文化有所了解，明白中西文化的差异。

圣诞节的来历

Christmas is a Christian holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. No one knows the exact date of Christ’s birth, but most Christians observe Christmas on December 25. On this day, many go to church, where they take part in special religious services. During the Christmas season, they also exchange gifts and decorate their homes with holly, mistletoe, and Christmas trees. The word Christmas comes from Cristes maesse, an early English phrase that means Mass of Christ.

The story of Christmas comes chiefly from the Gospels of Saint Luke and Saint Matthew in the New Testament.

The history of Christmas dates back over 4000 years. Many of our Christmas traditions were celebrated centuries before the Christ child was born. The 12 days of Christmas, the bright fires, the yule log, the giving of gifts, carnivals(parades) with floats, carolers who sing while going from house to house, the holiday feasts, and the church processions can all be traced back to the early Mesopotamians.

Many of these traditions began with the Mesopotamian celebration of New Years. The Mesopotamians believed in many gods, and as their chief god-Marduk. Each year as winter arrived it was believed that Marduk would do battle with the monsters of chaos. To assist Marduk in his struggle the Mesopotamians held a festival for the New Year. This was Zagmuk, the

New Year’s festival that lasted for 12 days.

The Persians and the Babylonians celebrated a similar festival called the Sacaea. Part of that celebration included the exchanging of places, the slaves would become the masters and the masters were to obey. The ancient Greeks held a festival similar to that of the Zagmuk/Sacaea festivals to assist their god Kronos who would battle the god Zeus and his Titans.

The Roman’s celebrated their god Saturn. Their festival was called Saturnalia which began the middle of December and ended January 1st. With cries of “Jo Saturnalia!” the celebration would include masquerades in the streets, big festive meals, visiting friends, and the exchange of good-luck gifts called Strenae (lucky fruits). The Romans decked their halls with garlands of laurel and green trees lit with candles. Again the masters and slaves would exchange places.

”Jo Saturnalia!” was a fun and festive time for the Romans, but the Christians thought it an abomination to honor the pagan god. The early Christians wanted to keep the birthday of their Christ child a solemn and religious holiday, not one of cheer and merriment as was the pagan Saturnalia.

Some legends claim that the Christian “Christmas” celebration was invented to compete against the pagan celebrations of December. The 25th was not only sacred to the Romans but also the Persians whose religion Mithraism was one of Christianity’s main rivals at that time. The Church eventually was successful in taking the merriment, lights, and gifts from the Saturanilia festival and bringing them to the celebration of Christmas.

The exact day of the Christ child’s birth has never been pinpointed. Traditions

say that it has been celebrated since the year 98 AD. In 137 AD the Bishop of Rome ordered the birthday of the Christ Child celebrated as a solemn feast. In 350 AD another Bishop of Rome, Julius I, choose December 25th as the observance of Christmas.

The birth of Jesus had a story: In Nazareth, a city of Galilee. The virgin’s name was Mary was betrothed to Joseph. Before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. Joseph her husband was minded to put her away secretly. While he thought about these things, Gabriel, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and told him did not be afraid to take Mary as wife. And Mary will bring forth a Son, and he shall call his name, Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.

Before Jesus births, Joseph and Mary came to Quirnius was governing

Syria. So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city. Joseph also went up out of Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and of the lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. So it was that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped him in swaddling cloths, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

And that, Christmas is the feast of the nativity of Jesus, is on 25th, December every year. But nobody knows the actual birthday of Jesus. And the Christmas has become popular when Christmas cards appeared in 1846 and the concept of a jolly Santa Claus was first made popular in nineteenth Century.

The custom of giving gifts to relatives and friends on a special day in winter probably began in ancient Rome and northern Europe. In these regions, people gave each other small presents as part of their year-end celebrations.
